6-19-13 ..... WEDNESDAY ..... TAKE A KID FISHING was a BIG SUCCESS! .....

We are so proud to have had the biggest turnout yet this year! ............... Over 160 underprivileged kids had the chance to fish on the pier for hours Tuesday; many thanks to all of the volunteers that gave their time and fishing experience that helped everyone catch a nice bunch of fish! ............. The day was a bit overcast, but that was a blessing because it helped keep a cooler fishing environment! ........... SPOTS, HOGFISH, CROAKERS, a few FLOUNDER, and congratulations to ROSE WELCH (Apex, NC)--6 lb. 9 oz. PUPPY DRUM .............. and MAKAYLA RICE (Tennessee)--9 oz. SEA MULLET! .............. On a sad note, we have lost an old Staff member, GRAHAM HEATH, after a brief illness. .............. Graham worked behind the counter in the 80's and early 90's and was retired from GMAC many years ago. ............... He will be dearly missed. ............ Also, we attended a Memorial Service for DEE GLOVER on Sunday afternoon on the deck adjacent to Beachfront RV Park. ............. It was a nice service and it was good to see so many of her friends there! ........ Dee was the wife of our own DANNY GLOVER; one of the Staff that takes great care of the pier's end! .............. The WATER TEMPERATURE is climbing; we are now at 79* and if we can get another calm sea going on, maybe we can see some KING MACKEREL show up before the TARPON! .............
