The 2010 LABOR DAY WEEKEND is cranking right along; Saturday's activities included the final EASTERN SURFING ASSOC. surf contest on the east side, and DJ DAN playing tunes on the beach for EI BEACH PATROL on the west! ............ Fishing was a mixed bag of POMPANO, SEA MULLET, BLACK DRUM, BLUEFISH, SPANISH MACKEREL, during the day, and CROAKERS, BLUEFISH, and SPOTS at night! ...............It seemed strange, but for a time there was no one KING MACKEREL fishing on the end yesterday! ............. Congratulations to JOHNNY LONG (East Bend, NC)--7 lb. 3 oz. PUPPY DRUM! ................... With absolutely beautiful water at 81*, we had a light current, and the beach was jammed for this last SUMMER weekend! ............ There have been a serious number of YELLOW BUTTERFLIES everywhere; this signals that SPOT SEASON is beginning within a week or so! ............. There have also been a significant increase of JUMPING MULLET and other bait fish in the ocean for the past week or so! ............. Don't forget to get your name on the 2010 BIP KING MACKEREL TOURNAMENT sign-up sheet! .......... You have from now until September 11th to get your name in the drawing; the tournament dates are October 4th thru 8th. .......... All GRANDFATHERED CONTESTANTS have until LABOR DAY to pay their $50.
